Forbes Advisor, an independent and impartial consumer research publication, has listed Houston Community College as one of its top 10 trade schools in the nation.

The publication considered schools that offer online workforce programs. Schools named to the Top 10 scored well in categories that included credibility, accreditation, nonprofit status, affordability, student outcomes and experience and the application process. Other factors included variety of programs, average price per year and financial aid and job placement assistance.

“Houston Community College’s workforce programs confer certificates and associate of applied science degrees. (Its) programs serve students who want to enter the workforce immediately after graduation,” said Brenna Swanston, an editor on the Forbes Advisor team.

The article highlighted HCC’s programs in accounting, business management, child development, computer programming, fire science and safety, geographic information science, international business, logistics and global supply chain management, marketing and real estate.

Schools that ranked the highest were fully accredited, nonprofit institutions with relatively low net prices and access to job placement assistance—all key features of HCC.

“We are delighted with being ranked highly by Forbes Advisor,” said Dr. Michael Webster, HCC associate vice chancellor of Workforce Instruction. “It is another validation of the exceptional work our faculty and staff are doing to fulfill HCC’s mission of providing high-quality, affordable education to directly serve students seeking careers in marketable, in-demand jobs.”

HCC offers 60 online programs and 70 hybrid programs covering 80 online subjects with HCC tuition rates that are among the lowest in the U.S. The college also provides advising, counseling, ability, tutoring, proctoring, career support, student support and technical support for students.
