Why did you enroll at HCC Coleman College?
My aunt attended HCC Coleman when I was younger. She was a great help when I mentioned I wanted to go into healthcare and pointed me in the right direction. Once I looked online at the programs offered, I knew HCC was the right choice.

Why did you choose your program of study?
I was very self-conscious of my teeth as a child, but I can remember how great I felt after every cleaning or even when I got my braces off. I wanted to go into a field where I could give that feeling to people who may feel the same way.

What do you like best about your college experience?
I love how lively campus is, seeing the rainbow of scrubs reminds me that I am not the only one working towards a better future. I also like my professors and peers. They’re always willing to lend a helping hand and give 100%, which in return motivates me to do better.

What do you like best about your program of study?
I love working hands-on, so lab days are my favorite days of the week! I like applying what I learned in lectures to my lab work. It makes everything click into place.

When you are tired, what motivates you to push forward?
As silly as it sounds, the song “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus always gets me motivated when I feel like giving up. While reaching the finish line is rewarding, the hard work and dedication it took to get there is what matters most.

What advice can you offer to help other students succeed?
Ask questions. If you have a question, it’s likely someone else has the same one. Also, use your resources. HCC offers study areas, tutors, and financial aid to help you succeed. Finally, prioritize your mental health. School can be stressful on top of the many other things in life, so remember to take a break occasionally.
