HCC Northeast Energy Institute students land top jobs from top employers

The Houston Community College Northeast Energy Institute recently hosted top energy companies Marathon Oil and BASF for a student career information session held at the Northeast Campus. Students had access to human resources recruiters to learn more about opportunities with the company as well as interview for careers in a variety of energy related careers. These opportunities lead tostudents obtaining positions with industry leaders in oil and gas.
“Houston’s top employers know that they can rely on the Energy Institute at Northeast College to produce skilled workers in the oil and gas industry. We are delighted tomake such a significant contribution to the workforce,” says Margaret Ford Fisher, president of HCC Northeast. The Energy Institute has grown exponentially in the recent years as the institute has seen an increase in the demand for skilled workers in the oil and gas industry. Employers find thatNortheast College has been a great resource in finding skilled workers and return to recruit students various times throughout the year.
The faculty at the HCC Northeast Energy Institute also have numerous years of experience in industry and have maintained relationships with various industry partners who guide programs at the Energy Institute by serving as members of an advisory committee. Students also benefit from these relationships and are able to gain industry experience through internships, which often lead to employment at these companies. Former students are even being used as ambassadors by these companies to return to Northeast College in search of more workers. The Energy Institute at Northeast College has produced several successful graduates who are working in leading companies such as BP, Exxon, Marathon Oil, and many more.
